Media attention for this phenomenon has also skyrocketed, so it’s very likely that you’re familiar with the term. Microdosing is the practice of ingesting a very low dose of psychedelics, on a regular basis. As one individual describes on his website “Microdosing at work would often alleviate feelings of overwhelm or annoyance with co-workers, essentially ‘re-balancing’ my mood, leaving me more calm and peaceful with a positive outlook.”
Psychedelic researcher James Fadiman – whose book The Psychedelic Explorers’ Guide (2011) is regarded as the microdosing ‘bible’ – mentions the concept of re-balancing as a core characteristic of microdosing. “There is an actual movement towards increased health or wellness – it seems to rebalance people”, he explains to the Huffington Post. “What seems to happen with microdosing is that you’re more attuned to your own real needs”.

When microdosing with truffles, there are a few things to consider. Truffles are available in various varieties and strains – different strains of truffles contain different amounts of psilocybin. And since truffles are a natural product, the psilocybin concentration from one batch to another also varies. There are a few things you can do to make your micro-doses as equal as possible.

Drugo, pripremite mikro doze tako što ćete najprije osušiti tartufe (u dehidratoru hrane ili na niskoj temperaturi u pećnici) i mljeti ih (mlinom za kavu) tako da dobijete homogen prah. Što je dobra mikrodoza tartufa?

Unfortunately, the answer is not very precise, since it’s dependent on personal factors such as tolerance and preference and mushroom factors such as the type of truffles and their potency. Generally speaking, a microdose is between 1/10 and 1/20 of a full dose. Of course, how much a full dose is also varies between people – but for truffles it ranges between 5 -15 grams of fresh weight. This means the microdose would be between 0.25 – 1.5 grams of fresh truffle.

Mjerenje tartufa u prahu

Let’s say you started off with a full dose of 15 grams of truffles. Truffles contain about 50%-70% water so after drying them you will only have about 30% to 50% of the original weight. This differs per strain. (In comparison: freshly picked mushrooms exists of 90% water). By grinding the dry truffles you will also lose some weight of the residue sticking to the grinder – so use the grinder for this purpose only! Let’s say you are left with 6 grams of dry truffles. If you want to take a microdose of 1/10, this means that you have to take 0.6 grams of powder, or 0.3 grams for a 1/20 dose. So yes: you will need a very precise scale to measure your doses.

Secondly: it is highly recommended to keep a daily journal, to keep track of the subtle emotional, cognitive, physical or spiritual effects that you may experience. Third: plan your first microdose on a free day, just in case the microdose is not ‘micro’ enough. And lastly: the idea is to continue your regular life and to stick to your everyday schedule. You should not feel any ‘proper’ psychedelic effects while microdosing. If you feel a little trippy, this means you have probably taken a little too much.
